Over 135 years old & printed during the victorian era in new york. Contains poems from poe' youth that many have never heard as well as memoirs & the death of poe.In the finest condition i have ever seen for a 19th century book or most any book for that matter. The condition of this book is absolutely astounding just look at it this book is a gem of a find for collectors of poe. Museum grade quality and still retaining crisp cover details with gold gilt and exquisite tooling.
Without any question one of the finest and rarest printings of a poe book i have ever listed for sale and i have probably had more poe books than most people anywhere around a very scarce and unique book printed in the 1880s including some of poe' greatest tales but also an array of rare ones to boot including tales from his youth. I would snag this one as it simply can't be replaced. If i asked three times my price this book would still warrant it.
As stated before i have tried to find another copy of this one with this cover and there are absolutely zero coming up and i have tried just about everything. Although this book lacks a print date, historical records, printing house history, cover, font text, and binding all point to this being an 1880s creation. Edgar allan poe born edgar poe january 19, 1809 october 7, 1849 was an american writer, poet, editor, and literary critic.
Poe is best known for his poetry and short stories, particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre. He is widely regarded as a central figure of romanticism in the united states and of american literature as a whole, and he was one of the country's earliest practitioners of the short story. He is generally considered the inventor of the detective fiction genre and is further credited with contributing to the emerging genre of science fiction. He was the first well-known american writer to earn a living through writing alone, resulting in a financially difficult life and career.Overll condition of this book is very nice for a victorian era printing. Does show some signs of wear including browning to pages, small scratches, wear to upper spine area, and missing a piece of cloth of the top of spine. This item is made of dream within a dream.
